The Lost Gardens of Heligan
extend to some 80 acres and was formerly the Tremayne
family seat. Now the site of the largest garden
restoration in Europe, the extraordinary plant
collection together with exotic glasshouses and
mild Cornish climate make it a popular tourist
attraction.
During the the Great War the
gardens gradually went to sleep although basic
maintenance was undertaken to the grounds around
the house.
Mevagissey is a lively
fishing village only 8 miles away which
offers a varied choice of restaurants and
pubs.The village has lively working twin
harbours landing a varied catch.
Much of their
haul, including lobster and skate, is served
at the waterside pubs and restaurants.
